It took me months to decide I really wasn't interested in The Land of Stories. By the time December came, I was only halfway through the book and read to give up and return it to my local library. I love fairy tales and I don't mind the occasional MG novel, but this book was dry and seemed to drag on for ages. The adventure wasn't fast paced or exciting. I am certain that, had I been a kid when I read this, I still wouldn't have enjoyed it. While Colfer brought us along on a journey in his YA novel Struck by Lightning, the quest in this kid's book was sub-par. It was "eh".
